The Jesus Filter

We are so busy with our everyday lives that we miss the benefits of simplicity.

Too many options = decision fatigue.

Too many friends = not enough quality, deep relationships.

Too many things on the agenda = overlooking of half-a$$ing the items.

I have always been a victim of overloading my schedule. I never want to say no and I want to do “all the things.” I am a type 7 enneagram which means I am always down for the next adventure. But what does life look like when I put it through the Jesus filter?

See, I have this theory about putting things through the Jesus filter. You gotta filter most things, so why not all of your decisions? Your time is the water, the world are the coffee grounds, the filter is (insert whichever filter you’re going to buy), and the coffee is the outcome of it all. If you don’t buy a good filter or if you don’t use a filter at all, you’re going to have a bunch of grounds in your coffee and it isn’t going to be enjoyable to drink. So let’s use an example;

Let’s say you’re considering quitting your job. The water flows with the time spent deciding, the coffee grounds are the action you take with this decision, and the coffee is the outcome that happens after you’ve put this into action. Let’s say you TOTALLY forgot to put a filter on it. OMG – there’s coffee grinds AKA not so nice consequences all up in this crap! Sure I had another job lined up, sure I thought this would help me with my growth, sure I thought making this change was a good decision, but I didn’t put it through the filter! Turns out this new jobs sucks way worse than the last one, has no benefits, pays way less, and I’m actually just as miserable.

At face value, it had seemed as if I checked everything off of the list before putting things into action. But if I would have put it through the Jesus filter and trusted the Lord with the outcome instead of my own understanding, you would have realized different decisions could have been made for a more robust, delicious cup of coffee.

Yes you still got a cup of coffee, but was it really the best cup of coffee for you? Probably not. Because we tend to jump the gun on all things and think of worldly benefits instead of spiritual benefits. Jesus has to be in the forefront of our lives, and that starts with our decisions.

Start putting Jesus first in all decisions that you make.

Let me say that again.

Start putting jesus first in all decisions that you make!

Just this small pivot alone has made strides in my peace, joy, happiness, and the fruit coming from my tree. It is unbelievable what submission to The Lord will do.

In my personal life, using the Jesus filter has caused more abundance in the love blooming within my family. It’s caused better organization and flow with each other. It’s helped me better communicate with my amazing husband instead of my normal snippy response.

In my business life, using the Jesus filter has blessed me financially. I’ve had so many opportunities come to me with out my frantically trying to control what comes and goes from my life. I let Jesus do the work. I am just obedient. Obviously I ACT on what I have been CALLED to do, and that’s work, but only as a response to Jesus making the first move.

Allow Jesus to bless you. I give you permission to trust The Lord today. If you made it through this blog post, thank you. I love you and appreciate your support. If you read this, would you mind telling me? Reach out to me on Instagram or Facebook!

Love,

B
