5 Steps to Live Your Best Life

Are you really out here living your best life?

Being successful means:

  • House
  • Car
  • Kid
  • Clothes
  • Happy
  • iPhone
  • iPad
  • Debt Free
  • Right?

So we thought…

This whole time, we’ve been striving to achieve some unspoken goal that we don’t even know what looks like in the first place. Having all these things are nice, sure but do they really make you happy? Does this environment make you happy?

The American Dream is really just America’s chains that trick you into believe it’s okay to take that loan out in order to drive the new car, it’s okay to max out your loan limit to buy that house, and it’s okay to finance that iPhone because it’s only $20/month!

Inevitably, all of this pressure of $20 here and $40 there adds up quick. Then it becomes this chunk of debt that you thought wasn’t a big deal until it becomes “a big deal.” Why are we seeking monetary weights instead of monetary freedom?

Seeking God is the key to happiness.

Simplicity is the key to happiness.

Minimalism is the key to happiness.

When I say Minimalism, I don’t mean owning one coffee mug, one pair of shoes, 3 outfits that are the same color, no art, and basically eating on the dining room floor. Being a Minimalist doesn’t mean living without abundance! It actually creates more space for the things that are truly important.

Why is it so hard for us to complete the goals we set for ourselves? Something a small as our schedule for the next day? Wake early, bible study, meditation, workout, shower, wake kid, breakfast together, pack lunches, school/work on time, meal prepped lunch, x amount of cold calls & follow up emails, pick up kid before 5, dinner by 6, read before bed, bedtime at 7:30, pillow talk at 8-9, prayer before bed… When you type it all out, it seems like a great plan. But it nearly never comes to fruition.

  1. Prayer…

“Ask and you shall receive.” That’s what God said, right? So why aren’t we doing what God says? In order for us to live fully, we have to listen to the Word of God. It’s not a rule book to be used against us, but a playbook on how to live completely free. From ourselves, others, and the enemy, we have to seek God with all of our hearts.

  1. Aimless Scrolling…

I’m not going to call this “Social Media” because social media is a gift to connect with one other in a positive way. Of course it gets taken advantage of, but so does anything else in this world. We, as humans, aimlessly scroll away in between pouring our coffee, using the bathroom, making dinner, brushing our teeth, etc. It’s our “in between the lines” that gets consumed with aimless scrolling. Then all of the sudden, your lines AND your in between the lines are bursting at the seams! There’s no room for anything else. Believe me, I’m guilty of this myself. This is no way pointing fingers at anyone but myself.

  1. Consistency…

Having a plan in place that aligns with your goals and understanding that life throws you curve balls is something we all need to come to terms with. All these “oh my gosh, can you believe what happened to me today” or “my spouse isn’t doing xyz and that’s why this day is crap” are all valid points, but guess what – THEY ARE ALSO EXCUSES. Make a plan, stick to it the best to can every dang day.

  1. Getting Active Inside & Out…

Obviously this is a vegan blog and I support a vegan lifestyle, but there are plenty of vegan junk foods (no we don’t just eat kale and quinoa). Basing your diet off of whole foods, plant based, and a gallon of water a day should do the trick. Exercising at least 3 days a week in the bare minimum to maintain sanity but to take your life to the next level, exercise as much as your body allows. Being active each and every day is so important.

  1. Get outside…

The sunshine, breeze, crunch, crack, splash, ping, coo’s, and chirps are all a part of God’s creation. It’s literally music to our ears. Being outside and turning off the gadgets is proven to be of good habit. Whether it’s an afternoon walk, a weekend family camping trip, or a week long hiatus, go for it.

Happiness is a choice.

I wrote this article just as much for myself as I did for all your readers. Like I said, we know what we have to do we just have to put action with the plan. Let’s act!

Love,

B
