How Do You Feel?

Do you feel like everyone else has it all together, except you?

You’re single, you’re still at that same job, you’re overweight, you’re still with the person you know you’re not going to marry, or you flat out feel like you’ve reached none of your goals…ever.

I have a secret.

SO DOES EVERYONE ELSE.

I had a dear friend of mine reach out to me and mentioned that my world looks great. Perfect husband, perfect family, etc. I do have a perfect family. Know why? Because it’s perfect for me. God made this family just for me. But it’s not perfect the way society wants us to believe. It’s perfect the way that The Lord designed us. I fight with my husband. I fight with my daughter. Heck I fight with myself more than anyone. I don’t hit my health goals. I cuss. I am usually late. I sign up for too many events at once and swear I can get them all done but then just cause myself to look bad, feel bad, and ultimately suck (in my opinion).

Social Media has this way of making us believe people’s lives are great when in reality –

THE ONLY WAY THESE PEOPLE’S LIVES ARE GREAT IS IF THEY ARE GENUINELY, AUTHENTICALLY, BEING WHO GOD HAS CALLED THEM TO BE.

(Disclaimer – this doesn’t mean you’re supposed to be perfect y’all! This means you are a work in progress

The only real way to be happy is stop giving a crap what other people think and start only focusing on The Holy Spirit that lives within you, giving you the power to be YOU. We need to learn how to say NO.

No I cannot go out every Saturday because I need to save money, spend ACTUAL time with my kid(s), and honestly I’m sure my liver would appreciate it. Did you really need to have that beer/food combo? Did you really want to smoke that cigarette? Did you really want to go to that bar? (Wow I seem like I’m talking to an alcoholic, sorry guys. Unless you’re an alcoholic, if so – let’s talk.) My point is, you can’t be in several different places at the same time. Mentally, spiritually, and physically.

This whole YOLO movement is exhausted and it sets up unrealistic expectations that run people ragged.

You feel like you’re doing a million things because you are but none of them align with your goals.

I’m not saying don’t take risks, do the hard thing, or ever indulge in life. That wouldn’t be any fun at all! I’m just saying stop wasting precious time on pointless activities. I’m guilty of it myself guys. Writing this is already giving me motivation to actually buy the white paint and get starts on the trim back at the crib.

Here’s my saying of this blog:

YOU DO YOU BOO BOO.

Love,

B

PS: Happy Halloween!
