I accidentally made some tasty oats and decided they were needed on the blog. They aren’t loaded with sugar so they’re just sweet enough but not an overload of sweet.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup quick oats (it’s what I used, but you’re more than welcome to take the time to make rolled oats or steel cut oats)
- 1 cup unsweetened soy milk (or plant milk of choice)
- 1/2 honey crisp apple
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 splash vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
Directions:
- Cook oats according to package – my quick oats said 1/2 c oats to 1 c liquid for about 5 minutes but rolled oats usually take 15 minutes and steel cut oats take about 25-30 minutes.
- While oats are cooking, chop 1/2 honey crisp apple into cubes.
- Pour cooked oats into bowl. Place pot back onto stove top. Add cubed apples, splash vanilla extract, maple syrup, and cinnamon. Cook on medium heat for about 5 minutes until apples are coated well and slightly tender.
- Pour apple mixture on top of bowl of cooked oats. Enjoy!
Love,
B
